“How To Take Care” is a handmade accordion style book about our self care and self change routines entitled. The series is a contemplation of the things we do to feel better and how they relate to society's ideas of self care. I documented every time I engaged in these activities, sometimes exaggerating them for the camera. By turning the camera on myself, I delved into my actual routine and allowed myself to be vulnerable to other’s thoughts. Creating an accordion book and allowing viewers to hold the images in their hands added another layer of intimacy to the project. Leaning into themes of absurdity and parody I chose the title of the book to be reminiscent of “how to” manuals.  The balance and sequencing of the images was in an effort to show all the different aspects of care at once and create connections between the images. The final result is a sort of think piece on the blurriness of what self care actually is and why we do it even in our worst moments.
