six clicks of separation

Six clicks of separation is a series of collages and a video using images pulled from various internet sources, called “6 Clicks of Separation”. I wanted to simulate an online photographic dérive in which the viewer follows me as I quickly examine different visual patterns. With so much information being available through technology, it is easy as a click to jump from one subject to the next with very little intention. The project started with collages created in order, with a focus on loose connection between each. Inspired by online popups and digital interfaces, I decided to make a more intentional video in which the collages appear and disappear on the screen. Each image and topic has the viewer's attention for a short time before the video moves to the next. The project references the idea that everyone is connected socially through six people. Transferred to the online world, The video connects six subjects through clicks.
