“Tables”, in full, is a series of five painted pieces on butcher paper done with acrylic paint, on the floor. Each table is a portrait of what my family member’s tables might look like at any given time. In order, the tables are my eldest sisters, my own, my parent’s, my brother’s and finally my other sister’s. The piece is my effort to freeze an ordinary moment in response to ever changing family dynamics. Tables aren't meant to be precious but instead used, sat around, and covered; they often communicate a lot about a person. Tables address the personal and potentially heavy topic of family in an honest, light hearted and relatable way.
